Today's Combustion Technology

With this information KAWASAKI, as Manufacturer of Gas Turbine Generator Sets of Combined Heat and Power Plants, wants to call the attention on the progressive development in his company.

In the past years KAWASAKI has developed a completely new combustion system and enlarged combustor, called DLE-system (Dry Low Emissions). Excellent longterm results have proved that the targets have been surpassed.

With the slogan "Dry Low Emissions 2000" KAWASAKI wants to point out the extreme low Exhaust Emission Values of all D-versions. In natural gas operation very reliable values for NOx of 50 mg/Nm³ and CO of 60 mg/Nm³ can be reached. Our D-versions can as well be used in liquid fuel operation.

KAWASAKI can support very well the political targets of the German Federal Republic for a world wide protection of environment as well as a 25 % reduction of CO2.

KAWASAKI will be in a position to improve this with current (catalytic combustion) developments.

More specifically, with a GPB 60D Gas Turbine Generator Set from KAWASAKI, rated at 5,566 kWel, a 40% reduction of CO-emissions can be achieved, (i. e. approx. 21 t/a), when the target values of the TA-Luft regulations, respectively those for the "dynamic" TA-Luft are considered. With nitrogen oxide, the reduction potential amounts to 73% (approx. 132 t/a), respectively 67% (approx. 53 t/a).

Another example: with a GPB 15D Gas Turbine Generator Set form KAWASAKI, rated at 1,434 kWel, 40 % CO - exhaust gas emissions (app. 12t/a) can be saved if you consider the target values of the regulations of TA-Luft or "dynamic" TA-Luft respectively for comparison. On nitrogen oxide the save potential amounts to 86% (approx. 96 t/a) or 67% (approx. 32 t/a) respectively.

With this the standard technology of water injection for NOx-reduction can finally be given up. The high share of running costs for producing demineralised water, the constantly necessary monitoring of water quality and the operation of environmental polluting chemicals can be dropped without any replacement.
